Would a person who was issued to use Flamethrower during WWII carry anything else?

Definitely only a handgun as a sidearm for backup (standard issue was a Colt .45 M1911). They would not have any type of grenades because that would be dangerous near the flame-thrower. Other than that, just a canteen, helmet, boots, etc. They would probably be especially thirsty because of the heat coming off the flame-thrower.
