Question about suicide?

If someone intentionally dies to save others does it still count as suicide according to the bible? How does god see there death? An example would be a soldier jumping on a grenade to save others. He intentionally means to put himself in harms way and die but for a noble reason to save others. Morally I would say its not the same and would hope that he wouldn't count it but how do I know for sure. Was watching battle: la movie and it crossed my mind when the lieutenant sacrificed himself for his men knowing he was intentionally killing himself. What are your thoughts wether religious or not?
